The answer lies in the first stage of the process: information gathering. If the analyst is not given team names, statistics, match situations, or tactical context, every algorithm, every evaluation framework, and every color-coded table becomes decoration. I have seen Vietnamese clubs spend large sums on young players because of a highlights video. I have seen a sports brief written in ten minutes from a player’s status line, then labeled “in-depth analysis.” And now I am holding a nine-part analytical document without a single piece of data. There is a thread linking those phenomena: we are worshipping form over content. An article must have a hook, context, core insight, contrarian angle, and takeaway. But if those five parts are filled with generic sentences, readers will quickly realize they are being deceived. I may be wrong about this particular document. Perhaps Stage-1 is only an intermediate step, and the real data sits in another file. But even in that case, the presentation creates a professional ethical issue. A scientific analysis must distinguish verified data, speculation, and blank areas that require more information. Placing the phrase “cannot assess” in nine different sections is not a conclusion. It is a confession that the entire system is running without fuel. For me, this is the moment Vietnamese sports journalists need counter-intuitive thinking. Instead of trying to turn an empty document into a long article, turn it into a lesson about process. Tell readers that we received an analysis, but it did not meet publication standards because it lacked sources. Explain why no framework, no matter how many sections it has, can replace a concrete number. That transparency may cost the newsroom one story, but it will keep something far more valuable: reader trust.
